I was reading yesterday about Atomic Comics in Arizona closing all four of their stores (here or here or here). The thing that bothers me is the "doom & gloom" reaction this keeps getting. Even though people keep saying "this doesn't mean it's the end of the 'comic shop'", they keep talking about "the end of the comic shop", repeatedly bringing-up the digital market & the future of comics.

Today I'm spotlighting the work of Art Helfant ... because I can. Helfant worked mostly during the 1940s, providing "filler strips" to a variety of publishers, including Timely, All-American (DC), Nedor, Harvey, Novelty and more. I was gonna bail on the whole idea of blogging. I just didn't have the time to devote to it, and with a dial-up connection, posting stories took forever and a day, which ended-up being the biggest reason I dropped the blog.
