New Comic Files

It's been exactly one year since I've scanned any comics. It's not like I don't have anything to scan, because I still have a small pile of comics & humor digest magazines to scan, I just haven't been in the mood to sit at my scanner long enough to get anything accomplished for most of the last year. Well, that changed yesterday when I decided to scan Supermouse 4 (August 1949). When I added that file to my 4shared folder, I noticed that I had some other files on there that I hadn't added to "My Golden Age Comic Book Files" page. Look for the links marked as "NEW" to see what you might have missed.

If you like Supermouse, The Big Blog of Kids' Comics! has featured several of the character's stories.

Super Animals Unchained!

Today's stories are from Supermouse 12 (April 1951 - Standard Comics) and Atomic Rabbit 5 (Oct 1956 - Charlton). After the stories, I ramble for a bit.

If you want to read the entire issues these stories come from, here's the links:

I don't post a lot, and I doubt I will ever hit anything close to a daily schedule that some bloggers manage to achieve. With stuff I scan myself (like today's stories), there's not all that much for me to do because I've done "it" already before I even think of posting my scans, and with scans from somebody else's files, there is a modest amount of editing I might have to do for the pages to meet my standards.

Time & Motivation are this blog's two biggest enemies. Every week, I stop by M.O.D.M. to see if anyone posted a comment, or I look at my "Stats" to see how much traffic this blog gets, and where that traffic is coming from (apparently, this blog is HUGE in Ukraine). Every week, I say to myself "I should post something", and yet ... Basically, I'm lazy when it comes to this blog. I can't lie about it ... well, I could but what's the point of doing that? That doesn't mean I have or will ever think of giving-up on M.O.D.M. This is my little corner of the internet, and with any luck, it'll be around longer than I am.

By the way: 16 people are following this blog?! That's awesome! Thanks for making me think I'm doing something here that's worth paying attention to.

New Comic Files

I have some new comic files to share with the world:

Supermouse 44 from Pines Comics, Summer 1958.
Supermouse 45 also from Pines Comics, Fall 1958.
Blue Bolt Comics volume 2 number 10 from Novelty Press, March 1942. This is a partial scan, including only the Sub-Zero, Blue Bolt, Sgt Spook and Old Cap Hawkins Tales features.

Other comics I've scanned can be found on "My Golden Age Comic Book Files" page.

And before anyone starts to think I've forgotten all about Halloween, here's a cartoon from Mirth issue 40 (October 1955).

More horror-related stuff soon!

Super Animals Unleashed!

Today's stories are from Atomic Mouse 11 (Dec 1954), Supermouse 35 (April 1956) and Atomic Mouse 38 (Sept 1960).

Charlton's Atomic Mouse appeared in his own title, with volume one beginning in 1953 and ending in 1963, running for either 52 or 54 issues (apparently, issues 53 & 54 either don't exist at all, or are so rare that nobody involved in price guides or comic indexes have seen them). He also appeared (sometimes only in a text story) in other Charlton titles, including "Zoo Funnies", "Timmy The Timid Ghost", "Tom Cat", "Rock and Rollo", "Li'l Genius" and "Funny Animals". In 1983, AC Comics featured the hero in issues 3 & 4 of "Americomics". In 1984-85, Atomic Mouse was revived by Charlton for four issues (#'s 1 and 10-12).

Supermouse first appeared in Nedor's "Coo Coo Comics # 1" in 1942, continuing to appear in that title until issue 56. In 1948, Supermouse received his own 36-issue series, which lasted until 1956.

Super Animals United!

Today's stories are from Atomic Mouse 3 (Charlton July 1953), Atomic Rabbit 3 (Charlton March 1956), Supermouse 5 (Standard Nov 1949) and Cosmo Cat # 2 (Norlen 1959).

Picking-up "Cosmo Cat # 2" was a little disappointing for me, as the title character only appears on the cover, not inside. On the other hand, I did get a couple of B&W pages of Atomic Mouse & Rabbit (under the title of "Goofy"), so it wasn't a total loss.

You can download the books featured today in their entirety by going to My 4shared Folder, where you don't need to have an account, you just download the files you want, and then go about your business.
