Some More Comic Files

I've spent the last few days scanning & editing quite a few books, including a nice group of issues from Charlton's Atomic Mouse series, Hillman's Clue Comics 12, Crime and Punishement 38, Ned Pines' Supermouse 29 and other assorted odds & ends. Check-out "My Golden Age Comic Book Files" page for all the "NEW" links to the files.

Taking the easy way out for today's post, I'm showcasing the back covers to a few issues of "Atomic Mouse". At least half of the run had pin-ups on the back covers. This radioactive rodent's series ran for 54 issues, from 1953 until 1963. Charlton published the character again from 1984 to 1986. One-shots have appeared from A-Plus Comics in 1990, Shanda Fantasy Arts in 2001 and finally from Avalon Communications in 2002.

Super Animals Unleashed!

Today's stories are from Atomic Mouse 11 (Dec 1954), Supermouse 35 (April 1956) and Atomic Mouse 38 (Sept 1960).

Charlton's Atomic Mouse appeared in his own title, with volume one beginning in 1953 and ending in 1963, running for either 52 or 54 issues (apparently, issues 53 & 54 either don't exist at all, or are so rare that nobody involved in price guides or comic indexes have seen them). He also appeared (sometimes only in a text story) in other Charlton titles, including "Zoo Funnies", "Timmy The Timid Ghost", "Tom Cat", "Rock and Rollo", "Li'l Genius" and "Funny Animals". In 1983, AC Comics featured the hero in issues 3 & 4 of "Americomics". In 1984-85, Atomic Mouse was revived by Charlton for four issues (#'s 1 and 10-12).

Supermouse first appeared in Nedor's "Coo Coo Comics # 1" in 1942, continuing to appear in that title until issue 56. In 1948, Supermouse received his own 36-issue series, which lasted until 1956.

Super Animals United!

Today's stories are from Atomic Mouse 3 (Charlton July 1953), Atomic Rabbit 3 (Charlton March 1956), Supermouse 5 (Standard Nov 1949) and Cosmo Cat # 2 (Norlen 1959).

Picking-up "Cosmo Cat # 2" was a little disappointing for me, as the title character only appears on the cover, not inside. On the other hand, I did get a couple of B&W pages of Atomic Mouse & Rabbit (under the title of "Goofy"), so it wasn't a total loss.

Super Animals!

The post from April 1st was my attempt at an "April's Fool" joke. The link in that post does take you to a file I have on 4shared.com which you can download, and the features I listed for "issue six" are accurate in as much as that's what my file contains. Realistically, "Blue Circle Comics # 6" was never anything more than a cover used to repackage left-over interiors of other comics. While most of what I said came directly from my own butt, there's a little bit of truth sprinkled-in here & there.

My poll, "Who's Your Favorite Hero of Rural Home?", ended with The Green Turtle on top with 3 votes, Blue Circle received 2 votes, Steel Fist, Maureen Marine & Crash Kid each got one vote, and apparently nobody cares about The Prankster, Jun-Gal or The Judge (ok, that might not be true, but they didn't receive any votes).

Today's are from "Supermouse # 36" (August 1956: Pines Comics) and "Atomic Mouse # 26" (May 1958: Charlton Comics Group).

If you click on the following links, you can download (for free & without registering) the entire contents of the books spotlighted here today from my 4shared.com folder:
